Alex Ovechkin career timeline: Draft through Stanley Cup

Forward has won Conn Smythe, scored 600 goals, named one of NHL's 100 Greatest Players

Alex Ovechkin added a Stanley Cup championship to his resume and won the Conn Smythe Trophy when the Washington Capitals defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in Game 5 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final.

He's earned his reputation as one of the best pure goal-scorers in NHL history, and his performance during his 13 seasons, all with the Capitals, has made him a generational talent.

The 32-year-old forward is a seven-time First-Team All-Star, the 2006 Calder Trophy winner, a three-time Hart Trophy winner, a seven-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner, a two-time Art Ross Trophy winner, and a three-time Ted Lindsay Award winner.

Roberto Luongo became the third goaltender in NHL history to play in 1,000 games when he started for the Florida Panthers against the Boston Bruins at BB&T Center on Thursday. He joined Martin Brodeur (1,266) and Patrick Roy (1,029).

"On behalf of the Florida Panthers organization I would like to congratulate Roberto on becoming only the third goaltender in NHL history to reach 1,000 games in what has been a Hockey Hall of Fame caliber career," Panthers general manager Dale Tallon said. "Throughout his career, he has proven to be a dominant player and an exemplary leader. His dedication to his family, his teammates and the game of hockey is second to none."
