OTTAWA --The Detroit Red Wings fell, 6-2, to the Ottawa Senators on Monday night at Canadian Tire Centre.

Magnus Hellberg stopped 36 of 42 shots in the loss for Detroit, which fell to 28-23-8 (64 points) on the season. Ottawa moved to 29-26-4 (62 points).
"We had a little pushback in the first," head coach Derek Lalonde said. "But when we did pushback and got physically engaged, we had some success…We're gonna have to be much better tomorrow physically to give ourselves a chance."
Lucas Raymond returned to the Red Wings' lineup on Monday after missing eight games due to a lower-body injury. The 20-year-old forward logged 12:31 of ice time against the Senators.

QUOTABLE

Lalonde on how his players handled their emotions throughout Monday's game
"We didn't handle it well. The reffing was what it was. Maybe a little inexperience, hopefully a learning lesson for us."
Larkin on the mental battle while on the penalty kill
"We're without Rasmussen. We missed him big time tonight in a game like this. Someone is gonna have to step up and play. He's kind of created a role in that he does things that no one else on our team really does. We miss that, but someone's gonna have to step in and step up for us. I expect that tomorrow. "
Chiarot on facing the Senators
"They're a physical team. That's something that maybe doesn't come natural to our team. Something guys, especially younger guys, are getting comfortable with at this level. It's a good experience for the team."
