Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill on Detroit's start to the game

"In the first period, they out-competed us. They were more physical than us. They're a big, strong team. Hard on the forecheck. But I thought in the first was as poor of a job that we've done in terms of competing and being ready to play. I didn't think we were ready enough to play, and ready enough to compete at that high level. They wanted those two points more than we wanted those two points. That's the way it looked to me in the first."

Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin on the Red Wings' lack of shots on goal

"I think every time we got in their zone, we were getting mauled. They beat the crap out of us down low. They made it hard to get to the net and get shots and get in the slot. Maybe something to learn from and to take that intensity into our game."

Larkin on Givani Smith's performance and the energy he brought to the ice

"They were physical. They were taking liberties and like I said, their D are physical. Givani stood up and I didn't see what happened on the play, but I saw Harper come in and Givani did a good job."
