CALGARY -- The Vegas Golden Knights exceed expectations by their very existence.

Businessman Bill Foley was motoring his pontoon boat around Whitefish Lake in Montana in August 2013 when he spotted his friend and neighbor Murray Craven. Foley had come back from a meeting about the possibility of putting an NHL expansion team in Las Vegas; Craven had played 1,071 games in the League from 1982-99.

LAS VEGAS -- The Vegas Golden Knights will be watching when the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning play Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final at Amalie Arena on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN1, TVAS, CBC).

The winner will face the Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final, with Game 1 in Vegas or Tampa on Monday. Regardless of who wins, the Western Conference champions would love to see the Capitals and Lightning play a marathon.

Golden Knights goalie has shot at championship for fifth time in NHL career @NHLdotcom

Marc-Andre Fleury will play in the Stanley Cup Final for the third consecutive year, this time with the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 33-year-old goalie, who won the Cup three times with the Pittsburgh Penguins, including the past two years, made 31 saves in Vegas' 2-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday. Fleury made at least 30 saves for the fourth straight game, and is 12-3 with a 1.68 goals-against average, .947 save percentage and four shutouts in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
