The Detroit Red Wings continue to be well represented at the 2023 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship as the preliminary round nears its end.

As of Sunday, May 21, Team USA paced Group A with 18 points while Team Switzerland led Group B with 18 points.

More information and full standings through Day 10 of the international tournament, which runs from May 12-28 in Tampere, Finland, and Riga, Latvia, can be found here.

UNITED STATES

The United States, featuring Red Wings forward prospect Carter Mazur, became the second American squad to win its first six World Championship games.

Last Wednesday (May 17), Mazur scored a goal and earned a plus-2 rating in 13:01 of ice time in a 4-1 win over Austria. The 21-year-old registered 12:05 of ice time in a 3-0 shutout victory over Denmark last Saturday (May 20), then had a plus-2 rating in 11:31 of ice time in a 9-0 shutout win over France the next day.

CANADA

Team Canada will be without Joe Veleno for the remainder of this year's tournament.

After earning a goal and two assists in last Wednesday's 5-1 win over Kazakhstan, Veleno was suspended for five games by the IIHF World Championship Disciplinary Panel for an incident involving Swiss forward Nino Niederreiter during last Saturday's 3-2 loss to Switzerland.

The 23-year-old forward earned five points on two goals and three assists in five tournament games.

SWEDEN

Lucas Raymond and Jonatan Berggren continue to provide offense for Team Sweden.

Last Thursday (May 18), Raymond contributed a goal and two assists while Berggren also scored in a 7-1 victory over Hungary. Two days later, Raymond recorded an assist and Berggren found the back of the net for the second consecutive contest as Sweden blanked France, 4-0.

GERMANY

Moritz Seider and Team Germany have won three straight preliminary-round games.

Seider tallied an assist and logged a team-leading 22:16 of ice time in last Thursday's 6-4 win over Denmark, then led Germany in ice time (22:49) the following day in a 4-2 victory over Austria. The 22-year-old defenseman netted a goal in Sunday's 7-2 win over Hungary.

"When we are rolling, we are really hard to beat," Seider told IIHF.com on Sunday. "We just gotta continue doing that and we will have another challenge [on Tuesday]."

FINLAND

Olli Maatta continues to chip in offensively for Team Finland.

Maatta recorded an assist in last Wednesday's 5-3 win over France, then picked up another helper 24 hours later in a 7-1 victory over Hungary. The 28-year-old blueliner also collected a pair of assists last Saturday as Finland beat Austria, 3-1.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Dominik Kubalik is finding the scoresheet at a historic rate for his native country.

Kubalik earned three goals and an assist in last Thursday's 6-2 win over Slovenia, then scored during Team Czech Republic's 2-0 shutout of Norway two days later.

Kubalik's lone tally against Norway was his seventh of the tournament, marking the fewest games (five) it has ever taken for a Czech player to reach seven goals in a single World Championship.

"It's nice but I'll appreciate it later,"

"I hope I'm not done and I continue to do well. I'm not going to change anything, and I hope it continues for me and the others."

The 27-year-old forward scored again in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Switzerland. Through six games, Kubalik leads all players with 12 points on eight goals and four assists.
