Canes 5k to be held Sept. 9; Golf Tournament tees off Sept. 10

RALEIGH, NC - The Kids 'N Community Foundation today announced plans for its annual Canes 5k race and the 20th Annual Kids 'N Community Golf Tournament. By raising funds through events like the Canes 5k and Kids 'N Community Golf Tournament, the Foundation awarded $495,000 to 24 different children's charities and youth hockey organizations in 2017-18.

The deal will pay Maenalanen $832,500 in the NHL or $70,000 in the American Hockey League (AHL) during the 2018-19 season. He receives as signing bonus of $92,500.

On the NHL level, the deal will pay Geekie $650,000 in 2018-19 and $700,000 in 2019-20 and 2020-21. He will be paid $70,000 per season on the AHL level and receives a signing bonus of $240,000.

The Learn to Play: First Goal program is available for just $119 per person and has introduced over 800 children to the game of hockey in its two years in North Carolina.
