Get ready to run, walk, cheer, and celebrate like champions to kick off the start of the 2026-27 season with the 13th Annual Canes 5K, presented by UNC Health and assisted by Raleigh Orthopaedic, on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 8:15 AM!

This year's event will feature a 5K course around Lenovo Center and the surrounding areas, two Caniac Kids' Dashes, inflatables, Kona Ice, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, a refreshing cool-down zone, appearances from some of your favorite Canes players, and much more.

This isn't your average 5K; it's a celebration for the entire Canes community! Whether you're chasing a personal record, taking a victory lap with family and friends, or simply joining the fun, there's something for everyone - including our four-legged Caniacs!

Registration includes:

  • One (1) ticket to a 2026-27 Canes home game

IMPORTANT: Each Canes 5K participant (excluding the Caniac Kids Dash & Full STM participants) will receive one (1) upper-level ticket as part of their registration. There will be a list of predetermined games in the 2026-27 season from which participants can select. Game options will be announced in a post-race email!

Race Day

The 13th annual Canes 5K presented by UNC Health and assisted by Raleigh Orthopaedic will take place at Lenovo Center on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 8:15 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation.

Participants are strongly encouraged to pick up their packets before race day. One person may pick up multiple participants' packets, but must have a photo of each additional participant's photo ID.

Participants may pick up their packets on the following dates and times at the Lenovo Center box office:

Tuesday, Sept. 8

  • 5 PM - 7 PM

Wednesday, Sept. 9

  • 11 AM - 1 PM
  • 5 PM - 7 PM

Thursday, Sept. 10

  • 11 AM - 1 PM
  • 5 PM - 7 PM

Saturday, Sept. 12

  • 10 AM - 12 PM

Race Day Schedule

  • 7:15 a.m. - Limited packet pick-up, outside, to the left of VIP doors

  • 8:15 a.m. - Pre-race kick-off

  • 8:25 a.m. - Caniac Kids Dashes

  • 8:45 a.m. - Canes 5k presented by UNC Health and assisted by Raleigh Orthopaedic

  • 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - Post-race stretch with Stormy, award ceremony, and drawing for raffle prizes

  • 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. - Post-race breakfast for all registered participants, compliments of US Foods and Lenovo Center staff. Friends and family who did not register for the race may not receive any food or beverages.

Race Awards and Prizes

Awards and prizes will be presented to the top overall male and female runners and the top male and female runners from each age group. Race winners will be determined by gun time. Age group winners will be determined by chip time, monitored by FS Series.

Overall Winners

  • Overall male and female winners will receive a trophy and a Carolina Hurricanes team-signed replica stick

Age Group Winners

The top overall male and female runners from each age group below will receive a trophy. Overall winners from the above category are not eligible for age group awards.
