DETROIT -- The Red Wings have been relatively healthy this season but you never know when injury will strike.
For forward Scott Wilson, acquired Oct. 21 from the Pittsburgh Penguins, it struck in the second period Wednesday against the Edmonton Oilers.

With the Oilers pressuring the Wings in the Detroit end, Wilson went down to block Yohann Auvitu's shot at 10:20.
Wilson was slow to get up and to add insult to injury, four seconds later the Oilers scored on Jujhar Khaira's goal for a 3-2 Edmonton lead.
The Wings announced in the third period that Wilson had a lower-body injury and would not return to the game.
Detroit was down to 10 forwards after Wilson left as they had gone with 11 forwards and seven defensemen to start the game.
