Frequently Asked Questions

What is Detroit SportsNet?

Detroit SportsNet is the new year-round home for locally televised Red Wings and Tigers games. Other than games selected for national telecasts, local fans can watch the Red Wings on Detroit SportsNet beginning with the 2026-27 NHL season and the Tigers starting with 2026 Opening Day.

Coverage for Red Wings games is expected to remain as-is on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit through the end of the current 2025-26 season, with no changes or action needed from fans.

Can I watch Detroit SportsNet on cable/satellite TV, or is it only available via streaming?

Fans will continue having the flexibility to choose how they'd like to watch Red Wings and Tigers games. Detroit SportsNet will be available on many cable/satellite providers throughout Michigan, while also being accessible through in-market streaming subscriptions. Specific providers and channel locations will be announced closer to the start of Tigers season.

What channel number will Detroit SportsNet be?

Specific channel locations and cable/satellite providers will be announced closer to the start of Tigers Opening Day. We expect the channel locations will be near other sports programming in your television lineup. Detroit SportsNet is a single channel to watch both the Red Wings and Tigers on a year-round basis.

Does Detroit SportsNet replace FanDuel Sports Network Detroit?

Yes. Starting with the 2026-27 NHL season, games that would have aired on FanDuel Sports Network in the past will now be available on Detroit SportsNet.

For the remainder of the 2025-26 NHL season, Red Wings games are expected to remain on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit before making the transition to Detroit SportsNet. Coverage during the current season will continue as-is, with no immediate changes or action needed from fans.

Will I be able to stream games instead of watching through a cable/satellite package?

If your billing zip code is in the home television territory of either the Red Wings or Tigers, you can subscribe directly to Detroit SportsNet monthly for online streaming. If your billing zip code is in the home television territory of both the Tigers and Red Wings, you also have the option to select Detroit SportsNet annual.

Detroit SportsNet annual and Detroit SportsNet monthly are a single-subscription product, making it seamless to watch both teams in-market all year long. Geographic restrictions apply outside of either team’s home television territory.

While Red Wings coverage remains on FanDuel Sports Network through the end of the 2025-26 season, subscribing before March 23, 2026, gives you access to Tigers games for $0 until April 1 as part of the introductory offer.

How can I subscribe to Detroit SportsNet in-market streaming, and how much will it cost?

Fans within Tigers and Red Wings markets can purchase subscriptions here, securing access to watch Red Wings and Tigers games when and where they want (subject to national exclusivities). Subscriptions can be purchased on a monthly basis at $19.99 or fans who are in-market for both teams have the option to purchase annually at $189.99 (a savings of over 20% compared to 12 monthly charges).

Detroit SportsNet annual and monthly purchasers who subscribe prior to March 23, 2026, will be charged for the initial subscription payment on or around April 1.

As an introductory offer, fans subscribing before March 22, 2026, at 11:59PM ET  will receive access to Tigers games through April 1, including Opening Day in San Diego, prior to your payment card being charged – giving you a head start on the Tigers season while preparing for Red Wings coverage next year.

Stacking this special offer on top of an already-discounted annual subscription gives eligible fans access to Tigers games until April 1, followed by access to all local broadcasts for the upcoming Tigers season and for nearly all of the 2026-27 Red Wings season, before your annual subscription renews on April 1, 2027.

Why isn’t Detroit SportsNet annual available to me?

Detroit SportsNet annual is only available to fans who live in the home television territories of both the Tigers and the Red Wings, as determined by zip code. Fans who are only in-market for one of the teams can purchase a Detroit SportsNet monthly subscription to access in-market content for the available team during the months when their subscription is active. If you think you should be eligible for Detroit SportsNet annual, have questions about eligibility or need help with your Detroit SportsNet subscription, please contact customer service.

The award-winning MLB App is your new in-market streaming home for Tigers baseball – available now with your subscription. Details on how to use your Detroit SportsNet subscription to watch the 2026-27 Red Wings season will be shared this summer.

All you have to do for now is sit back and enjoy Tigers baseball! Once your free introductory period ends on April 1, the payment method you have on file will be charged for whichever subscription you selected: $189.99 for annual or $19.99 for monthly.

Annual subscriptions will renew 12 months after that (next on April 1, 2027), while monthly subscriptions will renew on the 1st of every month that follows (next on May 1, 2026).

I purchased a subscription after the special introductory offer ended. When will payment be processed?

After that, annual subscriptions will renew in 12 months (one year from the date of purchase), while monthly subscriptions will renew one month after your initial purchase date.
