DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today signed forward Viktor Arvidsson to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $5 million.
Arvidsson, 33, spent the 2025-26 season with the Boston Bruins and ranked among the team leaders with 25 goals (4th), 29 assists (T5th), 54 points (5th), a plus-20 rating (3rd), four power play goals (5th), nine power play points (6th), six game-winning goals (T1st), 175 shots (3rd) and a 14.3 shooting percentage (5th) in 69 regular-season games. The 5-foot-10, 181-pound forward also scored two goals in four Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Bruins. Originally selected by the Nashville Predators in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Arvidsson has recorded 443 points (219-224-443), a plus-63 rating and 280 penalty minutes in 682 regular-season games with the Predators, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Bruins since 2014-15. Arvidsson has also tallied 46 points (17-29-46) and 47 penalty minutes in 91 postseason contests, reaching the Stanley Cup Final with Nashville in 2017 and Edmonton in 2025. Additionally, he logged 73 points (30-43-73) and 49 penalty minutes in 87 games with the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals from 2014-16, earning a place on the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2014-15.
A native of Skellefteå, Sweden, Arvidsson registered 52 points (23-29-52) and 71 penalty minutes in 106 games with Skellefteå AIK in Sweden’s top professional league from 2010-14, helping the club win back-to-back championships in 2013 and 2014. Arvidsson also collected 81 points (43-38-81) and 71 penalty minutes in 89 games with Skellefteå’s under-20 squad. On the international stage, Arvidsson represented his country at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, picking up one assist in three games. He won a gold medal with Sweden at the 2018 IIHF World Championship, netting three goals, a plus-four rating and six penalty minutes in five games. Arvidsson captured a silver medal at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, recording five points (4-1-5) and six penalty minutes in six games. He was also a silver medalist at the 2011 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, notching one assist and eight penalty minutes in five appearances. Arvidsson competed for Sweden at the 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, finishing with six points (5-1-6) in five games.
