After a complete game road victory at New Jersey on Sunday, the Detroit Red Wings will look to carry over the momentum when they face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night from Scotiabank Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on Bally Sports Detroit Extra and the Red Wings Radio Network.

In Sunday's 3-0 shutout win, Oskar Sundqvist, Tyler Bertuzzi and Michael Rasmussen all scored for Detroit while goalie Alex Nedeljkovic made 17 saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

"We got the job done," Nedeljkovic said. "We played pretty solid from start to finish, almost the full 60 minutes. That's something we haven't done in a while."
The playoff-bound Maple Leafs (52-21-7) have won all three games against the Red Wings this season, all of which were highly entertaining contests. Toronto won, 5-4, at Scotiabank Arena on Oct. 30, followed by a 7-4 victory at Little Caesars Arena on Jan. 29 and won, 10-7, in Detroit on Feb. 26.
The Maple Leafs enter Tuesday's matchup with the best power-play percentage (27) in the NHL and are coming off a 4-3 shootout win over the Washington Capitals on Sunday.

Red Wings sign Elson to NHL contract for remainder of 2021-22 season

On Monday, Detroit signed center Turner Elson to an NHL contract for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.
The 29-year-old has spent the last five seasons as an alternate captain with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. This season, Elson ranks second on the Griffins in goals (21), is tied for third in assists (24) and has the fourth-most points (45).
"Turner is a heart-and-soul player," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "He's done an excellent job down in Grand Rapids over the last number of years. He's really earned this opportunity with his play down there."
In 294 games for Grand Rapids since 2017-18, Elson has 144 points (

).

Staal enters COVID protocol

On Tuesday, the Red Wings announced that defenseman Marc Staal was placed in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol.
The 35-year-old has three goals and 13 assists in 71 games this season.
