After the 0-0 stalemate and eight-round shootout that ended in a 1-0 Red Wings win on Saturday afternoon, the Lightning wasted no time getting on the board in Sunday's matinee.
Filip Hronek turned the puck over behind the net in the opening seconds, which ended up on the stick of Tampa Bay forward Barclay Goodrow, who found a wide-open Coleman in the slot. Coleman took the pass and was able to snap a wrister over the glove of Bernier just 16 seconds into the first period for his 13th goal of the season.
The game remained 1-0 early into the second period when the Lightning extended their lead just 1:09 into the frame. Sergachev tallied his third goal of the season, taking a shot from the left point that found its way through traffic and past Bernier to increase Tampa Bay's advantage to 2-0.
The Red Wings, as they have all season long, would not go quietly and answered later in the second period.
Tampa Bay was close to making it 3-0 when Bernier robbed Tampa Bay winger Mathieu Joseph with his left pad, and the Wings corralled the rebound that led to a 4-on-2 advantage.
Forward Vladislav Namestnikov and Zadina executed a pretty give-and-go which ended with Zadina wiring home a shot past Gibson with 6:23 remaining in the second to slice the Lightning's lead in half, 2-1.
