PHI@DET: Greiss makes two saves on Flyers

In his first start since Jan. 9, Detroit Red Wings goaltender Thomas Greiss showed little signs of rust and stopped 32 shots to help Detroit beat the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-2, at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Greiss, who had missed six straight games while in the NHL's COVID-19 protocols, picked up his first win since Dec. 18. Tyler Bertuzzi, Filip Zadina, Moritz Seider and Michael Rasmussen all scored for the Red Wings. Dylan Larkin had three assists to record his 15th multi-point game this season, tied for eighth in the NHL.

Defenseman Troy Stecher, playing in his first game since Nov. 4, started against the Flyers and logged 15:03 of ice time.
With the win, Detroit (22-21-6) recorded its second win against Philadelphia in five days, winning the season series. The clubs will meet for the final time this season on March 22 at Little Caesars Arena.
NEXT UP: The Red Wings begin a two-game road trip on Monday when Detroit faces the Minnesota Wild. Puck drop from Xcel Energy Center is set for 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT with coverage on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network.

QUOTABLES

Larkin on Greiss' performance
"It was very important. He hasn't played in a while, and I think the last time he played, you know, he'll tell ya his rhythm was off a little bit. But he looked great tonight. He looked confident."
Larkin on whether the Red Wings are keeping an eye on the playoff standings
"Everyone is aware of the position we are in, and everyone should be. We're right there, and we haven't been there in a couple seasons. It's been a while. This is exciting, this is why you play."
Jeff Blashill on what he liked from Greiss
"I thought he played really, really good coming back. I thought he was in control of his game. I thought he controlled rebounds. I thought the puck stuck to him. I just thought he looked real solid."
Blashill on Detroit's second scoring line taking pressure off the top line
"They're definitely dangerous offensively, on a pretty consistent basis they've been that. They, like the rest of our team, need to make sure that we do a better job of managing the pucks, we're not giving up easy chances against. I think that message goes through the whole team."
