DETROIT -- Simon Edvinsson is expected to make his NHL debut for the Detroit Red Wings when they host the defending Stanley Cup-champion Colorado Avalanche on Saturday afternoon at Little Caesars Arena.

Puck drop between the Red Wings (30-28-9; 69 points) and Avalanche (39-22-6; 84 points) is set for 1 p.m., with TV broadcast coverage airing on Bally Sports Detroit and NHL Network. Ken Kal and Paul Woods will have the call on the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit).
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for Saturday's matinee, as the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a Henrik Zetterberg Bobblehead, presented by Coca-Cola.

Edvinsson, who was Detroit's sixth overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft,
and Austin Czarnik were recalled from the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions on Friday morning.
"Really calm under pressure," Moritz Seider said about Edvinsson. "He will have the puck on his stick a lot (Saturday). We're really excited to have him. I think he will bring a lot of offensive energy to our blue line. That's definitely something we need."
The 20-year-old Swedish defenseman has five goals and 22 assists in 51 games with the Griffins this season. After arriving to North America this past summer, Edvinsson participated in the Red Wings' 2022 Development Camp, NHL Prospect Tournament and Training Camp before appearing in five NHL preseason games.
"I hope he will be nervous," Seider said. "I think if he says other than that, he will be lying. We're just here to pump his tires and get him confident. Hopefully, he'll be the best version out there of himself."

Detroit is looking to rebound after falling, 2-1, to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. Alex Chiasson scored his third-power play goal in as many games and goaltender Ville Husso made 14 saves for the Red Wings, who are 5-3-3 against Central Division opponents this season.
Colorado beat the Ottawa Senators, 5-4, on Thursday for its fourth straight win. Nathan MacKinnon leads the Avalanche with 56 assists and 85 points, while Mikko Rantanen (45-37-82) extended his point streak to six consecutive games with one goal and two assists against the Senators.
Avalanche goalies Alexandar Georgiev, Pavel Francouz and Keith Kinkaid have combined for a 2.17 goals-against average this season.
In their last meeting at Ball Arena on Jan. 16, Detroit fell, 6-3, to Colorado.
