Red Wings assign Joe Veleno to QMJHL

Roster reduced to 60 at preseason's midway point

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today assigned center Joe Veleno to the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Red Wings currently have 60 players on their preseason roster: 35 forwards, 19 defensemen and six goaltenders. Detroit has four preseason games remaining, including back-to-back road games on Tuesday (at Chicago) and Wednesday (at Boston). The team will wrap up its exhibition slate with a road game in Toronto on Friday before hosting the Maple Leafs this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena.
