DETROIT- The Detroit Red Wings today recalled right wing
Martin Frk
from the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions.

Frk, 25, has split the 2018-19 season between Detroit and Grand Rapids. In 25 games with the Red Wings, he has recorded five points (1-4-5) and two penalty minutes. Since joining the Griffins on Feb. 14, Frk has totaled 13 points (4-9-13), a plus-12 rating and six penalty minutes in 10 games and ranks third in the AHL with a 1.30 point-per-game average (among players with five-or-more games played). The sixth-year pro has appeared in 95 NHL games with Carolina and Detroit since 2016-17, posting 30 points (12-18-30) and 16 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 224 games for Grand Rapids since 2013-14, showing 131 points (67-64-131) and 191 penalty minutes. Frk also has 21 points (6-15-21) and 22 penalty minutes in 26 career AHL playoff games and helped the Griffins win the 2017 Calder Cup championship after scoring the game-winning goal in the team's series-deciding Game 6 win against Syracuse.
Originally drafted by the Red Wings in the second round (49th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Frk spent three seasons (2010-13) with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Halifax Mooseheads prior to turning pro. In 152 games with Halifax, he logged 163 points (73-90-163) and 200 penalty minutes and won a QMJHL championship and CHL Memorial Cup championship in 2012-13. The Pelhrimov, Czech Republic, native has also represented his country internationally on several occasions, combining for 10 points (6-4-10) in 12 games at the 2011 and 2013 IIHF World Junior Championships and 12 points (3-9-12) at the 2010 and 2011 IIHF World Under-18 Championships.
