Red Wings set to celebrate Women's History Month throughout March

DETROIT -- After celebrating Black History Month in February, the Detroit Red Wings are excited to commemorate Women's History Month throughout March as we recognize the incredible achievements of past and present women in our organization, in the sport of hockey and across the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan.

Women's History Month efforts will leverage the year-round Hockey is for Everyone platform, which celebrates and elevates under-represented people in hockey, and throughout March, Ilitch Sports + Entertainment will spotlight unique initiatives and stories of girls and women making a difference in our community.
"As we enter Women's History Month, the Red Wings are proud to celebrate the past, present and future of women in hockey, in our community and beyond," said Ilitch Sports + Entertainment director of community impact Kevin Brown. "Throughout March, we will deliver a powerful blend of storytelling and interactive experiences as we remain committed to leveraging the platform and position of the Red Wings to move our game and our community forward."

Women's History Month Game Changers

The Red Wings are proud to recognize and celebrate women in our community making a positive impact on the lives of young Detroiters. In partnership with the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Bank,
the Game Changers series
will honor one woman per week throughout March who is making a profound difference in the areas of youth education, wellness or sport participation.
Each honoree will receive a $1,000 grant dedicated to the charity of their choice and will be invited to a pregame ceremony before Women's History Night on March 8.
March Game Changers Include:
- Dr. Tunishai Ford: Founder of Your Own Uniqueness, Inc.
- Pamela Moore: President and CEO of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation
- Theresa Randleman: Founder and CEO of T. ROSE, Inc.
- Lisa McDowell: Red Wings Team Dietitian and Founding Member of the Farm at St. Joe's

Hockey is for Everyone: Women's History Night

The Red Wings will proudly host Hockey is For Everyone: Women's History Night on
Tuesday, March 8
against the Arizona Coyotes at Little Caesars Arena.
In addition to honoring March's Game Changers, limited-edition Women's History Month T-shirts will be available for sale, a portion of the proceeds from the game's 50/50 Raffle will benefit the 12U
Kensington Valley Ravens Blue girls' hockey team and a Women's History Concourse Exhibit will be available for fans on the Via concourse.
The Women's History Concourse Exhibit will celebrate some of the most influential women in Red Wings history, including Marguerite Norris, Marian Ilitch, Colleen Howe and Manon Rhéaume.
The exhibit where these pioneers' achievements and impact are commemorated will be displayed outside the MotorCity Casino Club near PORTAL 8.

Limited-Edition Women's History Month T-shirt

Throughout March, the Red Wings are proud to offer a limited-edition
Women's History Month T-shirt for purchase
, with proceeds benefiting Figure Skating in Detroit and the Detroit Red Wings Foundation. The shirt design was created by Ilitch Sports + Entertainment graphic designer Allison Perreault.
The front of the shirt supports women's empowerment and features this year's International Women's Day call to action, "Break the Bias." The back features the NHL's Hockey is for Everyone logo and the Figure Skating in Detroit logo.
Figure Skating in Detroit helps girls transform their lives and grow confidence, leadership and academic achievement. It is the only organization for girls of color that combines the power of education with access to the artistic discipline of figure skating to build champions in life.
To celebrate Women's History Month, Figure Skating in Detroit is hosting a "Skating with the Stars" event on Saturday, March 5 from 3 - 5:30 p.m. at downtown Detroit's Campus Martius skating rink, featuring Olympic gold medalist Meryl Davis.
Red Wings TV's Daniella Bruce, who made history in January as the first woman in club history to be featured on a gameday radio broadcast, will serve as a guest judge for "Skating with the Stars" and will host a Meet & Greet with Figure Skating in Detroit participants before the event.

Clark Park Equipment Donation

In collaboration with Warrior Hockey, the Red Wings will present the 10U and 12U Clark Park Bears girls' hockey teams with new Warrior sticks, gloves and apparel on Wednesday, March 2 from 6 - 7 p.m., with select Red Wings alumni on hand to provide assistance.
The Clark Park Coalition provides year-round programming for more than 1,200 Detroit youth, and it features the only regulation-sized outdoor ice hockey rink in Detroit. The organization's girls' hockey programs are growing tremendously, and this donation will take these teams to the next level.
