LOS ANGELES -- The Detroit Red Wings were already thin and very young on the blue line and it got worse Sunday night.
At 8:06 of the first period, Trevor Daley went down and appeared to get hit in the head by Kings forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan's knee.

Head athletic trainer Piet Van Zant helped Daley to the dressing room.
At the start of the second period, the Wings announced that Daley would not return to the game due to an upper-body injury.
"He's out tomorrow night," Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "Other than that, I don't know any further. Upper-body injury."
Blashill indicated that Joe Hicketts would play Monday night in Anaheim.
The Wings are already without veteran defensemen Mike Green (virus), Niklas Kronwall (lower body), and Jonathan Ericsson (upper body).
Daley played just six shifts for 3:39.
"He's a solid player, he brings it every night, especially shutting down the best players on the other side, he's going to be missed," Frans Nielsen said. "I haven't talked to him yet but hopefully it's not too bad."
The Wings were forced to finish the game with Danny DeKeyser, Nick Jensen and rookies Dennis Cholowski, Filip Hronek and Libor Sulak.
"That hurt," Dylan Larkin said. "We're hoping he's going to be all right. It looks like he's OK, he's doing fine right now but it does hurt losing him like that. It was scary sight. I'm glad he's all right right now."
