Frequently Asked Questions

Please read the Donations FAQ section below before contacting the Community Relations Hotline at 313.471.7524 or [email protected] with inquiries.

Due to the number of requests received, we do not accept phone calls regarding the status of a particular request.

We will respond to every request we receive whether or not a donation is approved. All decisions made by the department are final.

If you receive an in-kind donation, we ask that you fill out the enclosed donation response form and send it back to us by fax or mail. If you have misplaced your copy, you can fill out the Charitable Donation Response Form online.

Can the Red Wings donate a pair of tickets for our fundraiser?

Due to the high volume of requests we receive and the popularity of our team, we are unable to provide tickets or suites as donation items.

My organization is not located in Michigan, Windsor, or Toledo. Can I still apply?

Due to the overwhelming amount of requests received each month and a limited inventory, the Wings must limit requests to in-state organizations and those located in neighboring Windsor, ON, and Toledo, OH.

We are looking for a sponsor for our upcoming fundraiser. Can the Red Wings sponsor a hole at our golf outing or a table at our auction dinner?

The Red Wings are unable to make monetary donations, purchase program ads, buy tables at banquets, sponsor a hole at a golf outing, etc. Each month the Community Relations department is besieged with requests for monetary donations and, unfortunately, must turn them down as our resources simply do not allow us to grant such requests. Although we cannot provide you with a monetary donation, please keep the Detroit Red Wings in mind should your organization ever need an auction or raffle item for a future fundraising event.

I submitted a request last week but haven't heard anything from the Wings. What is the status of my request?

Since the Wings receive thousands of requests each year, it is impossible for the Community Relations department to respond individually to confirm receipt of each request. The Wings will send something in the mail at least one week prior to your event with either an autographed item or a letter explaining why your request was denied. Please be patient!

We would like to auction off a signed jersey at our fundraiser. Can we drop off a jersey at the arena for it to be signed?

The Detroit Red Wings do not accept outside items to be autographed. Any unsolicited items will be returned to the sender unsigned. We do not accept responsibility for any items mailed to us.

My company is holding an employee appreciation event. Can you donate an item?

The Wings are unable to donate autographed memorabilia to for-profit company programs and initiatives, including employee appreciation events, employee incentives, holiday parties, etc.

My organization decided at the last minute to hold an auction in two weeks. Can you make an exception?

Unfortunately, due to the number of requests we receive, we require and need a 60 day time frame to fulfill all donation requests. Any requests submitted without the necessary sixty day notice will be denied. We appreciate your understanding and hope you will consider involving the Red Wings in your future fundraising activities.

My organization hosts several fundraisers annually. Can we request a donation for each event?

In order to fulfill as many requests as possible, the Community Relations department must limit one item donation per organization per calendar year. You are welcome to submit a donation request for an event at the start of the next calendar year. Due to this policy, we suggest that you determine which event you would prefer an autographed item from the Wings before submitting your request.
