TRAVERSE CITY, MICH. - The Red Wings are hosting the prospects tournament in Traverse City and so far have been more than gracious to their guests.

One night after a 6-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Wings fell to 0-2 with a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Wings got goals from Dylan Sadowy, Lane Zablocki and Dennis Cholowski.

One of the Blackhawks' top prospects, Alex DeBrincat, scored the game-winner at 16:35 of the third period.

Sunday is a day off for teams, who are playing four games in five days.

1. Dylan Sadowy: All that was missing for Sadowy was an assist and he would have recorded a Gordie Howe hat trick. Sadowy got the Wings on the board at 1:35 of the second period, which tied the game 1-1. Sadowy split two defenders and beat Chicago goaltender Matt Tomkins for his first goal of the tournament. Dominik Shine and Vili Saarijarvi got the assists. Late in the second, Sadowy fought DeBrincat and each earned a five-minute major.

Quotable: "I got a goal right off the start there, which was nice. Me and DeBrincat were going at it all game, ended up dropping (the gloves) there and ended up getting in a little battle at the end of the shift there. Can't complain about that. It's a tough way to end the game with another loss." - Sadowy

2. Kaden Fulcher: Although he took the loss, Fulcher was responsible for keeping the Wings in the game early when the Blackhawks outshot the Wings 17-6 in the first. Fulcher was also with the Wings during July's development camp and they invited him back for this tournament. Fulcher finished with 34 saves.

Quotable: "It's definitely a tough one to swallow. Sometimes you don't get the bounces but obviously at the end of the day you have to be better there. Two goals in the last 10 minutes is pretty tough on the team. If one of those is a save, maybe it's a different outcome. It was a fun game to play for sure and it was definitely an experience." - Fulcher

Quotable II: "I thought he played well today. I thought early on in the first period, they had us hemmed in quite a bit. He made some big stops through traffic. Of the goals that were scored, he'd probably like to have the first one back but in the second period when they scored that goal, he didn't have a chance on it. One goes off a skate in the net. Then that was a heck of a shot for the game-winner. He made some big stops for us. Bottom line is we have to get more production from some guys." - Grand Rapids Griffins coach Todd Nelson

3. Filip Hronek/Vili Saarijarvi: Before the game, Nelson spoke to defensemen Filip Hronek and Vili Saarijarvi about playing a simpler game and not trying to do too much. Saarijarvi assisted on Sadowy's goal and finished plus-2 while Hronek was minus-2.

Quotable: "They're proud people. They're trying to push and help the team win. So that's something that's to come with experience. It's just their reads where if there's a 50-50 puck and you're a defenseman, you have to back off those situations. You can't be gambling. Joey Hicketts went through the same thing last year when he was in Grand Rapids. He didn't really figure it out until after Christmas. I'm seeing the same thing with these young defensemen. They'll be fine." - Nelson
