Coyotes Announce Changes to Hockey Operations Department

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that Assistant Coach Newell Brown and Tucson Roadrunners General Manager Doug Soetaert have been relieved of their duties. In addition, the Coyotes will not renew the contracts for pro scouts David MacLean and Jim Roque. The Coyotes will immediately begin a search to replace these positions. 

"I'd like to thank Newell, Doug, David and Jim for their contributions to the club," said Chayka. "They are all good people but we believe these changes are necessary in order to improve our organization. We wish them the best in the future."

Coyotes to Hold Open House on May 13 at Gila River Arena

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Arizona Coyotes announced today that the team will hold an Open House event on Saturday, May 13 from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. at Gila River Arena. Kids attending the event will get an opportunity to play ball hockey on the arena floor with Coyotes defenseman Kevin Connauton from 2:30-3:30 p.m. This event will also allow fans to secure full Season Ticket Memberships for next season and select the best seat locations available for the 2017-18 Coyotes season at Gila River Arena. Special full season savings ends after this event.

Season Ticket Memberships start as low as $400 with the return of Fan Zone seating. The Coyotes are also introducing brand new "All You Can Eat" sections.

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have signed goaltender Hunter Miska to an entry-level contract. As per Club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"We are very pleased to sign Hunter to an entry level contract," said Chayka. "Hunter was one of the top goalies in the NCAA last year and he was highly coveted by numerous NHL teams. We are excited to have him join our organization and look forward to watching him develop."

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Arizona Coyotes unveiled a new outdoor DEK hockey rink at Luke Air Force Base (LAFB) in Glendale, Arizona today. The rink is strategically located next to the fitness center and pool grounds at the hub of all recreational activities for LAFB families. The cost of the project was $200,000.

"It's been an honor to partner with 56th Fighter Wing Deputy Mission Support Commander Lieutenant Colonel Haley Wijongi, 56th Fighter Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant Randy Kwiatkowski, Chief Master Sergeant Todd Kirsch and Executive Director of Fighter Country Partnership, Ron Sites on this exciting project," said Coyotes Majority Owner, Chairman and Governor Andrew Barroway. "The Coyotes are proud supporters of our military and we are thrilled to provide our troops with a new DEK hockey rink that they can enjoy all year round."

Coyotes Sign Looke to Entry-Level Contract

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Jens Looke to an entry-level contract. As per Club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

This season, the 20-year-old Looke played 46 games for Timra IK (SWE - 1), registering 8-8-16 and 10 penalty minutes (PIM). In 2015-16, the 6-foot-1, 180 pound Looke played 30 games for Almtuna IS (SWE -1), collecting 3-8-11 and two PIM.

Looke was drafted by the Coyotes in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Goaltender Mike Smith won the Ganem Jewelers Three-Star Award while Jordan Martinook captured the COX Communications Jukka Nieminen Memorial Trophy. Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was selected as the Gila River Casinos Man of the Year Award for his dedication to the community.

As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Keller was the Coyotes first selection in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

"We are extremely pleased to sign Clayton to an entry level contract," said Chayka. "Clayton is a highly skilled, dynamic forward. He is a strong skater who has a powerful shot and great hockey sense. We are excited to have him join our team and finish the regular season with the Coyotes."
