DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde provided updates on a handful of injured players following Monday's practice at BELFOR Training Center inside Little Caesars Arena.

Looking ahead to Tuesday's home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Lalonde said that Ben Chiarot (upper body) will not be available, while Filip Zadina (lower body) is questionable.
"Just nagging injuries that happen throughout the season," said Chiarot, who has not played since March 14. "You take an awkward hit here or there, just causes some discomfort. Sometimes they add up and get a little worse."

Alex Chiasson did not skate with Detroit because of an undisclosed injury.
"Chiasson was unavailable for practice today because he was getting evaluated during practice," Lalonde said. "Just the timing of getting to the doctor. He skated post-practice, so we'll know more talking to the training staff after."
When asked about Ville Husso (lower body), Lalonde said the 28-year-old goalie is undergoing a week-long evaluation process.
"Probably gonna get a couple different opinions on it," Lalonde said. "We're probably still a couple days out before we know fully where he's at."
Lalonde said he believes Husso's injury is not due to an increased workload. Husso has been Detroit's starting netminder in 51 of its 72 games this season, surpassing a career high of 40 he set with the St. Louis Blues in 2021-22.
"I think this is something that's been underlying probably for a couple years on him," Lalonde said. "Which is something very common for the nature of the position."

Lalonde added that Robby Fabbri, who has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since March 9, is unlikely to return this season.
"I wouldn't expect him back the rest of the year," Lalonde said. "Again, I think it's more of a cautious approach with him. Looking more towards next year."
Should Fabbri opt to have surgery, according to Lalonde, the procedure will not be "an aggressive-type surgery."
"If there is (surgery), I think it's a cleanup-type thing," Lalonde said. "I think they're still in the process of figuring that out too."

Lombardi becomes first Firebirds skater to register 100-point season

Red Wings prospect Amadeus Lombardi is amidst a record-breaking season with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League.
On March 24, the 19-year-old forward became the first player in franchise history to reach the 100-point mark after tallying two goals and three assists in a 6-5 overtime win against the Kitchener Rangers.

Lombardi, who was Detroit's 113th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, finished third in the OHL in scoring with 102 points on 45 goals and 57 assists in 67 games this season. He now holds the Firebirds' single-season point record set last year by Brennan Othmann (50-47--97).
The Firebirds are set to battle the Saginaw Spirit in the first round of the 2023 OHL Playoffs. Game 1 in the best-of-seven series is set for Thursday night at Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Mich.
