Organizations unveil state-of-the-art playground for Northmoreland Park

by Pittsburgh Penguins @penguins / Media Release

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 18, 2017 - CNX Resources Corporation (NYSE: CNX) is teaming up with the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation to donate and construct a playground at Northmoreland Park in partnership with the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners and Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation.

The $60,000 donation, part of CNX's annual Month of Giving, will cover the majority cost of the playground at this important community asset, ensuring children and generations to come have a place to gather and stay active.

"Westmoreland County is a vital area to the future of our company and many of our employees live and work here, so we see it as our responsibility to help better a community that's been so great to us," said Craig Neal, Vice President of Operations at CNX. "The Penguins Foundation does a tremendous amount for the youth of our region. We're excited to partner with them to create something that will have a positive, lasting effect on the children here."

"The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is proud to partner with CNX on a very important community initiative in Westmoreland County," said Dave Soltesz, president of the Penguins Foundation. "We are committed to this playground project at Northmoreland Park because it will provide much-needed recreational space and create exciting new opportunities for local children and their families. As we always say at the Penguins Foundation, 'Kids Are The Future'."

The playground build at Northmoreland Park is part of the Penguins Foundation's Operation Restore initiative, which tackles environmental restoration and community revitalization. "There really are no limits to this initiative," stated Soltesz. "If a project assists the community in a big way, then it may fall under our Operation Restore umbrella. This build in Westmoreland County does just that. We are thrilled to partner with CNX to leave behind a lasting impact for the youth in this region."

Northmoreland Park receives a high volume of visitors each year and has a number of welcoming amenities, but previously lacked a comparable space for children to gather and play.

"The county commissioners are grateful CNX and the Penguins Foundation were able to partner on the Northmoreland playground project," said Gina Cerilli, Chair of the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners. "Northmoreland Park is the largest Westmoreland County park and sees over 100,000 visitors annually. The playground will be a great addition, complimenting a brand new pavilion at the park's entrance."

The check presentation and unveiling of the conceptual design will be held at the Westmoreland County Courthouse on Monday, December 18 at 1:00 p.m.

The playground is scheduled to be built in the spring of 2018, when CNX employees and members of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation will volunteer to assist with the construction.
