Notables
* The Pens host the Edmonton Oilers in the final meeting between the 2 clubs. Pittsburgh defeated the Oilers, 6-5 in overtime, in Edmonton. Sidney Crosby scored the dramatic OT winner.
* Any time the Pens and Oilers square off, the matchup is billed as Crosby vs. Connor McDavid. McDavid has the edge in points (9-3), but Crosby's Pens are 5-0 against the Oilers.
* Olli Maatta suffered an upper-body injury against the Flyers on Monday and is on the IR. Defenseman Chad Ruhwedel will enter the lineup.
* Zach Aston-Reese (upper-body) appears to be returning to game action. Evgeni Malkin will be out while serving a 1-game suspension.
* Kris Letang scored his 109th career NHL goal against Philadelphia. He now is the Pens' all-time leader among defensemen in games played (736), goals (109), assists (376) and points (485) and postseason games played (128), goals (21), assists (58) and points (79).
* Goaltender Matt Murray set a career high with 50 saves in a 4-1 win against Philadelphia. Against the Oil, Murray is 4-0 with a 2.72 GAA and .922 save percentage.
* Edmonton is 6 points out of a playoff spot, but there are 4 teams ahead of them.
* McDavid ranks 3rd in the NHL scoring race with 81 points (31G-50A). McDavid's 31 goals rank 7th in the league.
* Leon Draisaitl has a career-high 32 goals on the season (ranking 6th in the NHL). It's his 1st 30-goal season and he still has 27 games left to add to it.
