NASHVILLE -- The Nashville Predators believe their window to win the Stanley Cup will remain open following a second-round loss to the Winnipeg Jets in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Predators won the Presidents' Trophy with 117 points in the regular season but couldn't solve the Jets. Nashville had high expectations after reaching the Cup Final last season, when they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games.

The Winnipeg Jets will play in the Western Conference Final for the first time. 

The Jets won 5-1 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round against the Nashville Predators on Thursday and will play the Vegas Golden Knights in the conference final, which begins with Game 1 at Winnipeg on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; NBC, CBC, TVAS).

The Nashville Predators missed too many opportunities and were ultimately eliminated in seven games in the Western Conference Second Round against the Winnipeg Jets.

The Predators won the Presidents' Trophy finishing as the top team in the regular season with 117 points, three more than the Jets in the Central Division. Nashville is the third consecutive Presidents' Trophy winner to be eliminated in the second round; the Washington Capitals lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017.

The Winnipeg Jets became the 29th current NHL franchise to play in a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the 15th to win its first such appearance and the 11th to do so on the road when they defeated the Nashville Predators 5-1 on Thursday in the Western Conference Second Round.

The Jets will face the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final, with Game 1 at Winnipeg on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; NBC, CBC, TVA Sports). It's the first time opponents have reached a conference final since 2003, when the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim swept the Minnesota Wild in four games.

NASHVILLE -- The list of players in the Stastny family to score game-winning goals in a Game 7 grew by one on Thursday.

Paul Stastny had three points (two goals, one assist), including the eventual winner in the first period, for the Winnipeg Jets in a 5-1 win against the Nashville Predators in Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round at Bridgestone Arena.

Paul Stastny had two goals and an assist, Mark Scheifele scored two goals, and Connor Hellebuyck made 36 saves for Winnipeg.
