By the Numbers will highlight the Red Wings' on-ice accomplishments in the 2017-18 season. Each week during the offseason, By the Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on his statistical highs. This week we focus on defenseman Trevor Daley.

The Red Wings signed defenseman Trevor Daley to a three-year contract on the first day of free agency last summer.
Daley, 34, is expected to provide some veteran leadership on the blue line while the team waits for some of their young defense prospects to develop.
The Dallas Stars originally took Daley in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Before coming to Detroit, Daley won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017.
9 -- Daley led all Wings defensemen with nine goals. That is tied for Daley's second-best career goal total. He also had nine with the Stars in the 2013-14 season. In the 2014-15 season, Daley had a career-high 16 goals. Daley was tied for 31st among NHL defensemen in goals.
7 -- In his 15-year career, it had never happened before this past season. Daley had nine goals and only seven assists, the first time he had ever registered more goals than assists in a single campaign. Daley was not the only one on the Wings with that statistic. Gustav Nyquist, Luke Glendening and David Booth also had more goals than assists.
4 -- With four game-winning goals, Daley was tied with Dylan Larkin for the team lead in that category. Daley was tied for fourth among league defensemen with four game winners. Calgary's Mark Giordano and Dougie Hamilton, Florida's Aaron Ekblad, Minnesota's Matt Dumba, Columbus' Seth Jones, Boston's Torey Krug, Los Angeles' Drew Doughty and Washington's John Carlson were the other defensemen with four game-winning goals.
900 -- On Oct. 16 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Daley skated in his 900th career game. He finished the season with 971 career games, which means he will hit 1,000 in the 29th game of next season, barring injury or illness.
3 -- The Wings were a threat for most of the season while shorthanded and Daley was tied for sixth on the team with three shorthanded points. Larkin, Glendening and Frans Nielsen also had three shorthanded points.
20:41 -- Daley's average ice time was 20:41, second on the team only to fellow defenseman Mike Green, who averaged 22:04.
