DETROIT - Red Wings fans enjoyed the 6-3 preseason victory over their one-time Central Division rival Chicago Blackhawks.
However, Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill has to take the results with a grain of salt because the Blackhawks didn't have Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Artemi Panarin or Corey Crawford with them on the trip.

1. Martin Frk: Frk turns 23 on Oct. 5 and like a few of the other Wings in camp, he is out of options. Frk scored the Wings' second goal on a face-off win by Tomas Nosek just 1:57 into the game. He also assisted on Anthony Mantha's second-period power-play goal at 17:19. In 15:39, Frk had five shots to lead the team, three hits and a takeaway.
   Quotable: "The first step for me was to see, for him to make a little bit of a statement in the roles that he's been in and he's done that. So the next step is to continue to get him into spots where he's playing against better players as we move through the preseason so he's going to get that opportunity. As I said in camp, you can't make our team, you've got to make our team better if you're one of those guys on the outside looking in. You've got to say to us, 'I'm making your team better.' I told him you've got to slap us in the face so he's got to keep making that statement every time he touches the ice." - Blashill
   2. Anthony Mantha: Mantha parked himself in front of the net when the Wings had the power play late in the second period and was there to push a rebound past goaltender Lars Johansson. It is Mantha's second goal in two games. Mantha is pushing to make the Wings but he is also waiver-exempt so he has to stand out like Dylan Larkin did last year in order to make the team.
   Quotable: "Those 10 games (with the Wings) last year helped me out a lot for this season, what mindset I had to have for this year. That's what I'm focusing on. I just need to keep playing the way I'm playing. Maybe a little more physical in the games to come but as of right now I think I'm doing a good job." - Mantha
   3. Petr Mrazek: Mrazek started his first preseason game since returning from playing for Team Czech Republic in the World Cup. Mrazek did not get tested a whole lot as the Blackhawks only managed 14 shots in the game. Alexandre Fortin did score on the breakaway at 15:25 of the first when he faked right, got Mrazek to commit and then scored into the left side of the net. The Blackhawks got their second goal at 9:17 of the second on Dennis Rasmussen's backhand rebound. Brandon Mashinter scored on a breakaway at 2:20 of the third period.
   Quotable: "Tough game to honestly play. You get two flat-out breakaways, you get one kind of weird traffic goal and you don't see many other shots. I know I've been in those games, the goalie, you can't really get any rhythm, you don't really get tested on real shots, and then all of a sudden it's a breakaway. So it's a real tough game, I think, to judge him. I know Petr Mrazek's got the abilities to be real good. He's going to sit back this week and really hone in on some fundamentals and technical work to make sure that they're as sound as possible and then he'll probably play the last game Saturday against Toronto." - Blashill
