DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today activated forwards Carter Bear and Chase Stillman from injured non-roster and assigned them to the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Bear, 19, spent the entire 2025-26 season with the Western Hockey League’s Everett Silvertips and ranked among the team leaders with 36 goals (1st), 41 assists (T4th), 77 points (2nd), a plus-45 rating (5th), 56 penalty minutes (5th), 16 power play goals (1st), 26 power play points (2nd), one shorthanded goal (T1st), seven game-winning goals (T1st) and 207 shots (3rd) in 53 regular-season games. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward was named to the WHL Western Conference Second All-Star Team for the second consecutive season. Bear also recorded 22 points (7-15-22) and 24 penalty minutes in 18 postseason contests, helping Everett capture the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL champions. He tallied 82 points (40-42-82), a plus-33 rating and 77 penalty minutes in 56 games with the Silvertips during the 2024-25 campaign. Selected by the Red Wings in the first round (13th overall) of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, Bear compiled 218 points (102-116-218), a plus-98 rating and 159 penalty minutes in 195 games with the Silvertips from 2022-26.
A native of West St. Paul, Man., Bear played the majority of the 2022-23 season with the Winnipeg Thrashers in the Manitoba U18 Hockey League, earning Most Valuable Player honors and a place on the league’s First All-Star Team after recording 59 points (32-27-59) and 24 penalty minutes in 31 regular-season games, along with two points (1-1-2) in three postseason matchups. Bear also spent the 2021-22 season with the Thrashers’ under-18 squad, notching 42 points (25-17-42) and 34 penalty minutes in 39 regular-season games, in addition to two points (1-1-2) in three playoff games. On the international stage, Bear won a bronze medal with Team Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, appearing in two games.
Stillman, 23, played the 2025-26 season with the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks, recording nine points (3-6-9) and 48 penalty minutes in 24 games. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward split the 2024-25 campaign between the AHL’s Utica Comets and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, logging 12 points (4-8-12) and 54 penalty minutes in 65 games. Stillman also appeared in two Calder Cup Playoff games with the Penguins. Originally selected by the New Jersey Devils in the first round (29th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Stillman has collected 45 points (21-24-45) and 174 penalty minutes in 143 AHL games with the Comets, Penguins and Canucks since 2023-24. Stillman is the younger brother of Riley Stillman, who has skated in 167 NHL games and is currently playing with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors. He is also the son of 16-year NHL veteran Cory Stillman, who racked up 727 points (278-449-727) and 489 penalty minutes in 1,025 regular-season games with the Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers from 1994-2011, winning Stanley Cup championships with the Lightning in 2004 and Hurricanes in 2006.
Prior to turning professional, Stillman totaled 131 points (51-80-131) and 204 penalty minutes in 176 games with the Ontario Hockey League’s Sudbury Wolves and Peterborough Petes from 2019-23. Stillman helped Peterborough win the J. Ross Robertson Cup as OHL champions in 2023, recording 13 points (4-9-13) and 21 penalty minutes in 21 postseason matchups. He also notched 16 points (9-7-16) and 43 penalty minutes in eight games with Esbjerg’s under-20 squad in Denmark’s top junior league during the 2020-21 season. Though he is a native of St. Louis, Mo., Stillman has represented Canada on the international stage. Stillman captured a gold medal at the 2021 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, tallying four points (2-2-4) and four penalty minutes in seven games. He also played for Canada White at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, finishing with four points (1-3-4) and four penalty minutes in six games.
