Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has been named to his ninth career All-Star Game, it was announced today.
The NHL named one representative from all 32 teams and the remaining 12 players - two skaters and one goaltender per division - will be decided by the 2023 NHL All-Star Fan Vote presented by Guaranteed Rate beginning at 9:00 PM tonight at NHL.com/Vote.

Crosby's ninth All-Star Game selection ties him with Jaromir Jagr for the second-most selections in Penguins history. Only Mario Lemieux (13) has been named to more All-Star Games than Crosby. Crosby was previously named an NHL All Star in 2007, '08, '09, '11, '15, '17, '18 and '19.
In his franchise record 18th NHL season, the 35-year old Crosby leads the Penguins with 19 goals, 24 assists and 43 points through 37 games this season. Of his 43 points this year, 33 of them have come at even strength which ranks third in the league behind only Erik Karlsson (39) and Connor McDavid (35). The Penguins have recorded a point in 19 of the 23 games that Crosby has found the scoresheet in (16-4-3).
With one more goal, Crosby, who already has the most 20-goal seasons in Penguins history, will become just the second active player to record 15 20-goal seasons, joining Alex Ovechkin (18). Sixteen of Crosby's 19 goals this year have come at even strength, which is tied for the eighth-most in the league. Only Leon Draisaitl (8) has more game-winning goals than Crosby's six this season, while his 84 career game winners rank third among all active players (Alex Ovechkin, 124; Jeff Carter, 87).
This season Crosby broke into the NHL's top-20 all-time scorers list, climbing from 22nd place (1,403) to 18th, while passing the likes of Dale Hawerchuk (1,409), Doug Gilmour (1,414), Adam Oates (1,420) and Bryan Trottier (1,425). Crosby also broke into the NHL's top-20 assists list, surpassing Phil Housley (894) and Trottier (901) to currently sit at 19th place on the all-time list (916).
Crosby became the only active player to hit the 900-assist milestone on November 5, and required the sixth-fewest games to reach the mark in NHL history (1,120). Only Wayne Gretzky (584), Lemieux (771), Paul Coffey (991), Oates (1,056) and Ron Francis (1,108) tallied 900 assists faster than Crosby.
The Penguins captain has played six games this season in which he has recorded three or more points, including two with four points. Only six players in the league have recorded three-plus points in more games than Crosby.
Crosby earned NHL First Star of the Week honors twice this season for his efforts during the first week of the regular season as well as the week of November 14.
