Here is what the Pens had to say prior to their contest against the Maple Leafs.
ON THE LINEUP
Sullivan: "The lineup changes will be a game-time decision. We do intend on resting some guys. Malkin will not play tonight. Olli is not going to play tonight. Sid is playing."
ON THE LEAFS
Sullivan: "It'll be an exciting game. These guys have a lot to play for. There will be intensity. There will be emotion in the building. It will be a fun environment for our guys to play in. We expect a real competitive game and I'm sure our guys are looking for to that."
Dumoulin: "They're still looking to seal (the playoffs). We know we'll get their best. They're going to play as hard and hungry as they can. It's not going to be a go-through-the-motions game. They're going out there with everything they have. We expect it to be a good matchup."
Sheary: "With Tampa winning last night they might be more ready than they may have been had they clinched. We have to be ready for their best. They have a lot of young talent on their team and they can definitely score goals. We have to be ready for that."
ON THE FINAL 2 GAMES
Sullivan: "We're trying to continue to get some traction with our team. We're trying to get better. We have a competitive group and we're going to try to win a hockey game. That's how we look at it."
Sheary: "It's important to stay sharp. If you let your habits go these last couple of games it could be bad for us going into the playoffs. We have to come into tonight with the same mindset, play the right way and use this to build momentum heading into the playoffs."
Dumoulin: "We still want to play our best hockey. It's more for us to be doing the right things, playing well going into the First Round series. These games aren't for nothing. Every game is important. Even though they don't matter standings-wise, they do matter personally."
ODDS AND ENDS
Malkin on tonight: "It's not like we're going to just give Toronto two points."
Sullivan on balancing rest and games: "There is a fine line. We don't want to have guys sit out too long and there's a long period of time between their last hockey game and Game 1. That's the balance that you're trying to find. We want to be competitive and build and grow as a team. We don't want anyone sitting out too long before Game 1 starts. But we want to do our best to give guys a breather so they have an opportunity to get some rest before the playoffs start."
Simon on showing what he can do: "It's always an opportunity. It's unbelievable to play with those great players. They try to make it easy for you. I'm very exciting and looking forward to play."
