Detroit trims roster by seven

Red Wings play Blackhawks tonight; Roster stands at 53

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today assigned left wing Dylan Sadowy to the ECHL's Toledo Walleye and released forwards Luke Kirwan, Bryan Moore and Jordan Topping; defensemen Brenden Kotyk and Matt Register; and goaltender Pat Nagle from their tryout contracts. All seven players will report to Toledo.

The Red Wings' preseason roster now stands at 53 players: 31 forwards, 17 defensemen and five goaltenders. Detroit continues their preseason schedule with road games against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at 8:30 p.m. and Boston Bruins tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. The Red Wings close out exhibition play with a home-and-home set against the Toronto Maple Leafs, first visiting Toronto on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before hosting the Maple Leafs at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
