After dropping the first two games on their current four-game road trip, the Detroit Red Wings' 7-4 win over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday meant more than just two points in the Atlantic Division standings.

According to head coach Derek Lalonde, the comeback win was exactly the type of get-well game the Red Wings needed and wanted.
"I think it was a big win," Lalonde said. "A little bit more for our mental psyche. The two games on the road trip so far, we've actually played pretty good, especially our defensive side of the game by not giving up a ton. I think it was important to find a way to win a game. I'm really proud of the guys."

Detroit scored a season-high seven goals against San Jose, marking the first time it had at least seven tallies on the road since defeating the Dallas Stars, 7-6, in overtime on Feb. 21, 2015.
David Perron, who extended his point streak to three games with one goal and two assists against the Sharks, said he was proud of the way his team persevered.
"We almost buckled," said Perron, who ranks third on the club in scoring with 14 points (6-8-14) through 17 games. "But we didn't. We stayed strong. It was a good two points, and now we got a chance to go make it a pretty good road trip in Columbus."
Thursday's game was also the first time the Red Wings had seven different players score in a regular-season game since defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets, 9-1, on Nov. 11, 2009.

While the victory snapped Detroit's four-game skid, Moritz Seider stressed there are specific areas the club must focus on as they prepare for Saturday's tilt against the Blue Jackets.
"We still had four in the back of our net with easy goals-against on our faceoffs," Seider said. "We gotta bear down on those, work on our details and I think we'll be fine."

Defenseman William Wallinder (4-7-11) has two goals and two assists in his past five games, while forward Theodor Niederbach has one goal in 16 contests this season.
