ST. LOUIS -- The Red Wings will get a chance to see St. Louis Blues rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington for the first time tonight.
To say the young netminder has had an impact on the Blues would be an understatement.

The Blues are currently third in the Central Division with 84 points (38-27-8) after starting the season 16-19-4.
In his first start on Jan. 7 at Philadelphia, Binnington made 25 saves in a 3-0 shutout of the Flyers, just the second St. Louis goalie to get a shutout in his first career NHL start. The other was Rich Parent on Jan. 26, 1999 against the San Jose Sharks.
From Jan. 23-Feb. 19, Binnington won nine consecutive starts, the longest such streak by a rookie goaltender in Blues history. Only nine other rookie goalies in NHL history have had a winning streak of nine or more games.
Binnington also became just the sixth goaltender to win 13 of his first 15 career starts.
"Once he got going, he's been on an incredible hot streak," Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "It's not just 10 games, I think it's 25 or so. Obviously, he got them probably headed in the right direction, but they have a real good goalie in (Jake) Allen as well. He's real talented. So he's back on track, too.
"All it did probably was give their team -- that's a real good team -- lots of confidence -- and now they're playing with tons of confidence and playing at the level that they probably expected to play at. They're a real good team. They present a lot of issues."

Binnington is 18-4-1 with a league-leading 1.78 goals-against average and is tied for second with a .930 save percentage.
Offensively, the Blues are led by Ryan O'Reilly, who has 69 points in 73 games. Vladimir Tarasenko leads the Blues in goals with 28 and is second in points with 58 in 67 games.
Jaden Schwartz recorded a hat trick in the Blues' 7-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday night.
"I coached against Jaden a long time," Blashill said. "He was in Tri-City when I was coaching in Indy in the USHL. He's a really smart, good player, good with the puck. They've got a number of weapons. They're heavy. They play in the O-zone well. They make lots of plays to the slot. Their D are very, very active in the rush. So they present a lot of challenges. We got to play at our highest level to put ourselves in position to win."

The Blues defensemen have scored a league-leading 45 goals this season.
Three of their defensemen have 10 or more goals, a franchise first. Alex Pietrangelo has 13, Vince Dunn has 11 and Colton Parayko has 10.
DE LA ROSE UPDATE: There was not much new on forward Jacob de la Rose, who left Tuesday night's game against the New York Rangers after the second period due to an accelerated heartbeat.
"Not a great update, except that he saw a specialist today, going to see another guy next Wednesday and hopefully have more from that meeting," Blashill said. "Right now, same as I said before, he's back in Detroit, everything is fine right now. Let's find out what the issue is and get it solved."
