Oilers Last Game: 3-1 Win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, November 30

Last Time Out

  • For the second time in three games, the Canes outshot their opponent by a large margin but came out on the wrong side of the score Monday. Last Thursday at home they outshot the Islanders 43-16, however, fell short 5-4 in overtime, and Monday in Winnipeg they put 43 pucks onto Laurent Brossoit, yet fell 2-1 despite letting just 22 shots get to Antti Raanta.

Keep Putting It On

  • Thanks in part to their output on Monday, the Canes now lead the league in shots per game (34.6).  They also allow the fewest among all 32 teams (24.6).

Aho Against Edmonton

  • Similar to his numbers against Buffalo, Sebastian Aho has had historical success against the Oilers. Producing 23 points in 13 games, one of them came as an assist in the game between these two teams 14 days ago at PNC Arena.

In Net

  • Making his first start in 10 days against the Jets, Raanta got back on track, stopping 20 out of 22. A nice outing and a bounce-back performance after allowing eight goals on 14 shots in his most recent appearance, it was the first time in five games that Pyotr Kochetkov had a night off. With that being said, it would not be surprising to see the 24-year-old back in action this evening, as the Canes will need both netminders over the next two nights due to the back-to-back situation. Kochetkov has made two career appearances against the Oil, including 40 minutes of relief work last month.

On The Other Side

  • The Oilers enter tonight's contest after a rare six-day gap between games. Before their break, they'd won four games in a row, trending in the right direction under new head coach Kris Knoblauch. Connor McDavid has returned to looking like the best player in the world with a league-leading 13 points in those four wins since Black Friday. The power play has been a shining point of Edmonton's game all season long, but during that same stretch they've capitalized at a 46.7% success rate, and their penalty kill has been almost equally as good operating at a 93.8%.

Injury Updates

  • Goaltender Frederik Andersen is sidelined indefinitely after the team announced on November 6 that he is dealing with a blood clotting issue.
