Penguins Sign Forward Joe Cramarossa to a Two-Way NHL Contract

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Joe Cramarossa to a two-way NHL contract for the remainder of the 2018-19 season, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

The two-way deal contains an average annual value of $650,000 at the NHL level. Cramarossa must clear waivers at 12:00 PM on Thursday to remain with the organization. He would continue to play for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Sidney Crosby Named NHL Third Star of the Week

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby tied for the NHL lead with 10 points (2G-8A) last week, helping the Pens compile a 3-1 record in their four games. Crosby was rewarded by being named the NHL's Third Star of the week today.

His mid-February scoring binge has Crosby ranked fourth among all NHL players during the calendar month with 14 points (3G-11A) in nine games. Crosby's 11 assists are first among all players in February.

Penguins Place Defenseman Olli Maatta on Injured Reserve

The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed defenseman Olli Maatta on injured reserve, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

Maatta will be out indefinitely.

Maatta, 24, suffered an upper-body injury after absorbing a hit in Monday night's 4-1 road victory against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. Maatta has skated in 55 games this year, producing 13 points (1G-12A) and a plus-7. 

Tomorrow night the Penguins begin a three-game homestand by hosting the Edmonton Oilers at 8:00 PM at PPG Paints Arena in a nationally televised game on NBC Sports Network. Later this weekend, the Penguins have back-to-back day games. Pittsburgh hosts the Calgary Flames on Saturday at 1:00 PM and the New York Rangers on Sunday at 12:30 PM. Fans can watch the game against the Flames on AT&T SportsNet, while Sunday's contest against the Rangers will be nationally televised on NBC.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned goaltender Tristan Jarry to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

Jarry, 23, served as Casey DeSmith's backup on Thursday night in Florida. Jarry will return to WBS, where he is 15-9-2 with a .912 save percentage in 27 games. He has gone 8-3 in his past 11 AHL decisions. The WBS Penguins visit the Grand Rapids Griffins tonight at 7:00 PM.

Pittsburgh is in Tampa Bay tonight to play the Lightning at 7:00 PM at Amalie Arena. Fans can watch tonight's game on AT&T SportsNet or listen to the team's radio flagship, 105.9 The X.
