Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sam Poulin will be taking a leave of absence from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins due to personal reasons, it was announced today by General Manager Ron Hextall.

"The Penguins support Sam's decision to take time away from hockey to focus on himself," said Hextall. "As with all of our players, our priority is them as individuals first. We look forward to having him back with the team when he is ready."
Poulin, 21, will return home to Quebec and continue his workouts on and off the ice. The team will have no further comment on his status at this time, and kindly asks that his privacy be respected.
The 6-foot-1, 208-pound forward made his NHL debut on October 25 against the Calgary Flames, and registered his first career point, an assist. Poulin has three games of NHL experience and has appeared in a total of 85 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League level over the past two seasons, where he's notched 41 points (20G-21A).
The Blainville, Quebec native was originally drafted by the Penguins in the first round (21st overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.
