General manager Ron Hextall and the Penguins' scouting staff drafted four players on Day Two of the 2022 NHL Draft held at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Following the Penguins' first round draft selection of Owen Pickering at 21st overall, the Penguins drafted Sergey Murashov (4th round, 118th overall), Zam Plante (fifth round, 150th overall), Nolan Collins (sixth round, 167th overall) and Luke Devlin (sixth round, 182nd overall).

Murashov, 18, played the last two seasons in the MHL, the KHL's junior league. The Yaroslavl, Russia native netminder appeared in 41 games last season for Loko-76 Yaroslavl, going 21-16-3 with a 2.49 goals-against average, .927 save percentage and six shutouts. In 49 career MHL games, Murashov has posted a 23-17-4 record with a 2.46 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. The 6-foot, 167-pound netminder won gold with Russia at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
Plante, 17, spent the 2021-22 campaign with the Chicago Steel of the USHL, recording 10 goals, 11 assists and 21 points in 31 games. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound forward's 21 points were third among Chicago rookies. A native of Hermantown, Minnesota, Plante has committed to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth next season where his father, Derek, is the associate coach. Derek also played eight seasons in the NHL with Buffalo, Dallas, Chicago and Philadelphia from 1993-01.
Collins, 18, recently completed his first season of junior hockey with the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL. The 6-foot-3, 194-pound defenseman recorded four goals, 14 assists, 18 points in 65 regular-season games with Sudbury. His 18 points led all rookie defensemen on Sudbury. A native of Whitby, Ontario, Collins appeared in four games with Team Canada at the 2022 Under-18 World Junior Championships in Germany.
Devlin, 18, played for St. Andrew's College last season where he led the team in goals (19), assists (28) and points (47) in 44 games. The 6-foot-3, 191-pound forward appeared in four games with the United States at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The Memphis, TN native is committed to Cornell University for the fall.
The Penguins traded their seventh-round pick (214th overall) in this year's draft to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
