The Pittsburgh Penguins have activated forward Bryan Rust off of injured reserve, it was announced today by general manager Ron Hextall.

Rust, 29, played in the first two games of the season and recorded one goal in the Penguins' season-opening win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound forward was one of two Penguins to play in all 56 regular-season games in 2020-21, when he recorded 22 goals, 20 assists and 42 points. Rust's 22 goals and 42 points last season ranked third and fourth on Pittsburgh, respectively. The forward tallied six game-winning goals and six power-play goals in '20-21, both the second-most on the team.
Rust is a veteran of 366 career NHL games, compiling 101 goals, 112 assists and 213 points during his seven-plus season career with Pittsburgh. Since the 2019-20 season, no Penguin has scored more goals than Rust's 50. The two-time Stanley Cup champion has also tacked on 19 goals and 27 points in 72 career playoff games since 2016.
The Penguins close out their season-long eight-game homestand tonight against the Minnesota Wild at 7:00 PM.
