NEWS & NOTES

Next Man Up:With Teuvo Teravainen ruled out for the series due to a broken hand, one of either Jesse Puljujarvi or Mackenzie MacEachern is expected to draw into the Canes' lineup tonight. Puljujarvi played in 17 regular season games after being acquired from Edmonton ahead of the NHL's trade deadline but found himself as a healthy scratch for the first two games of the series. MacEachern,
recalled Thursday morning from Chicago
, did not appear in any regular season games with the team during his first season in the organization, but has prior NHL playoff experience and had a strong second half of the season with the Chicago Wolves.
More Drury?:After Teravainen left Wednesday's game, rookie Jack Drury stepped into the role alongside Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis. Drury had been working alongside Derek Stepan and Paul Stastny and the trio was having a quality evening, largely responsible for the game's first goal. Whether the Harvard product will stay in the role or if the forward lines will be shuffled again remains to be seen.

In Net:When asked Wednesday if he'd be sticking with Antti Raanta for a third consecutive game, Rod Brind'Amour didn't commit one way or the other. The head coach complimented Raanta's performance thus far, but also said he expects Frederik Andersen to play at some point. Pyotr Kochetkov, who has two wins over the Islanders in his young career, could also be an option.
No Morning Skate:Carolina will not skate to start the day. Rod Brind'Amour will take questions from the media at approximately 4:40 p.m.

Burnin' Up:Brent Burns recorded two assists in each of the first two games of the series, with Wednesday's being his 18th postseason multipoint performance. Victor Hedman (TB) is the only active defenseman in the league with more multiple-point games (24).
Trendy Stef:Stefan Noesen has recorded a power-play goal in both games thus far this season. He is the first player in franchise history to score two power-play goals in his first two postseason games with the team.
From The Blue Line:One of Carolina's biggest strengths all season long was the scoring from their defenseman, as the group posted a franchise-record 59 goals. Brady Skjei and Burns led the way with 18 goals each, finishing tied for third in goals by an NHL defenseman this season, trailing only Erik Karlson (25) and Dougie Hamilton (22). Thus far in this series, only Jaccob Slavin has scored for the unit, producing one of the team's six goals so far.
Shooting For Three:Carolina went 46-5-5 when scoring three goals or more during the regular season. They are now 1-0 in the postseason when reaching the benchmark.
It's A New Year:The Canes went 0-6 on the road during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They'll look to ditch that trend tonight in their first road game of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
