NEWS & NOTES

The Power Play:It's been an interesting series already for the Canes man advantage. Under a microscope after an underwhelming final month of the regular season and being a reason for the club's downfall this time last year, the units scored both goals en route to a Game 1 victory. They scored once on six tries in a bit of a fluky fashion in Game 2's win, but the sentiment was that their 0/4 performance in Game 3 cost them a chance to go up three games in the series. However, back as a point of emphasis on Sunday, they responded with multiple goals again in Game 4 on their way to their 5-2 victory. Another successful evening tonight may remove the question mark beside the topic, at least for a few days.
Super Stef:An integral part of the power play this series has been Stefan Noesen, who has factored in on four of the team's five goals this series. Totaling two assists on Sunday, including a sweet no-look setup to Martin Necas, Noesen's four power play points lead the team and are tied for the third-most by any NHL skater thus far through Round One.

Got It Done On The Road:Sunday's win at UBS Arena was the first playoff victory away from Raleigh for the Canes in nearly two calendar years.
Recall of the Mac:Forward Mackenzie MacEachern provided a feel-good story in Game 4, recording multiple points in his Canes debut on Sunday. #28 dressed in three preseason games with the team but spent the entirety of the regular season with Chicago (AHL), missing several months of the season due to two upper-body injuries. He persevered, had a stellar second half of the season, and now finds himself playing a big role for the club in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Bullets Dodged:Despite being on the wrong end of a nasty board from Ryan Pulock on Sunday, Jack Drury could return to the lineup as soon as tonight for Carolina. Rod Brind'Amour shared yesterday that the forward was doing better after missing 55+ minutes of play in Game 4. Along similar lines, the head coach said that he expects Frederik Andersen to be available tonight. The goaltender "tweaked something" during warmups earlier this series, leaving the backup duties behind Antti Raanta to Pyotr Kochetkov.
In Net:Antti Raanta has led the Canes to three victories this series and appears to have taken the reigns for the club in between the pipes. His .915 save percentage this series ranks sixth among all NHL goalies that have played a minimum of four games in Round One.

From The Blue Line:One of Carolina's biggest strengths all season long was the scoring from their defenseman, as the group posted a franchise-record 59 goals. Brady Skjei and Burns led the way with 18 goals each, finishing tied for third in goals by an NHL defenseman this season, trailing only Erik Karlson (25) and Dougie Hamilton (22). Thus far in this series, only Jaccob Slavin has scored for the unit, producing one of the team's 12 goals so far.
Shooting For Three:Carolina went 46-5-5 when scoring three goals or more during the regular season. They are 2-0 in the postseason when reaching the benchmark.
