TEAMMATES AFFECTED BY RECENT MOVES
Filip Forsberg, NSH -- The signing of center Matt Duchene gives Forsberg a higher fantasy ceiling. Duchene, who tied an NHL career-high 70 points (31 goals, 39 assists) and had 14 on the power play in 73 games with the Ottawa Senators and Columbus Blue Jackets last season, should also help the Nashville Predators improve their power play, which was worst in the NHL. Forsberg, who could move to Duchene's line instead of his usual spot with Ryan Johansen, has excelled in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and had strong per-game stats last season but has never reached 65 points, making him a potential bargain ahead of what could be his best season yet.
Jake Guentzel, PIT -- The Pittsburgh Penguins trading right wing Phil Kessel to the Arizona Coyotes means Guentzel is poised for a first power-play role this season. Considering Guentzel led the Penguins with 40 goals on an even-strength line with elite center Sidney Crosby but played on mostly the second power play, Guentzel could reach a higher gear. Another candidate to take Kessel's spot on the first unit is forward Alex Galchenyuk, who was acquired from the Coyotes in the Kessel trade and is on the cusp of the top 100 rankings with renewed upside.
ADDITIONS TO THE LIST
Nazem Kadri, COL -- The Colorado Avalanche acquired Kadri from the Toronto Maple Leafs to boost their secondary scoring. Kadri is also likely to be the fifth member on a power-play unit with elite forwards Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen (restricted free agent), Gabriel Landeskog and impact rookie defenseman Cale Makar. Kadri, who had consecutive 32-goal seasons in 2016-17 and 2017-18, joins the top 100 forward rankings and will at least provide strong category coverage of points, shots on goal and hits. If Kadri finds chemistry with fellow newcomer Andre Burakovsky, each could be a steal in the late rounds of a fantasy draft.
Roope Hintz, DAL -- There are a ton of possibilities for the Dallas Stars' top six and power-play combinations after signing versatile forward Joe Pavelski. But one thing is for sure; the fantasy stock of Hintz is on the rise regardless of whether Pavelski is on the first or second line. Hintz had mixed results as a rookie in the regular season but broke out for eight points (five goals, three assists) in 13 postseason games on a line with mostly right wing Mats Zuccarello, who signed with the Minnesota Wild in free agency. Hintz, whether he plays center or wing on the second line, is guaranteed to play with either Pavelski, Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn or Alexander Radulov at even strength and joins the top 100 rankings with sleeper appeal.
