Hockey runs in Mantha's blood. His grandfather Andre Pronovost won the Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens four straight seasons from 1956-60.
So it shouldn't be surprising that Mantha has had a knack for scoring and winning during his career. After scoring 50 goals for Val-D'Or of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2012-13, Mantha scored 57 the following season, when he had 120 points to lead the league and was named the most valuable player. He also was named the CHL player of the year, scoring 24 goals in 24 playoff games to help Val-D'Or to the President's Cup as QMJHL champions.

Selected by the Red Wings with the No. 20 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, Mantha played two seasons with Grand Rapids in the American Hockey League, increasing his goal total from 15 to 21. He played 10 games with the Red Wings at the end of the 2015-16 season and scored two goals.
Mantha began the following season in the AHL and scored eight goals in 10 games before he was recalled by the Red Wings. He remained in the NHL for the rest of the season and scored 36 points (17 goals, 19 assists) in 60 games.
In 2017-18, Mantha's first full season with Detroit, he made history by scoring the first goal at Little Caesars Arena, the new home of the Red Wings, in a 4-2 win against the Minnesota Wild on Oct 5.
After helping Canada finish second at the 2019 IIHF World Championship, Mantha scored all four goals for the Red Wings in their 2019-20 home opener, a 4-3 win against the Dallas Stars on Oct. 6. He became the first Red Wings player to score at least four goals since Johan Franzen scored five against the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 2, 2011.
