The Vancouver Canucks had to wait nearly two seasons for Boeser, a right wing who was their first-round pick (No. 23) in the 2015 NHL Draft. The native of Burnsville, Minnesota, more than repaid their patience.
Boeser gave the Canucks and their fans a taste of his skill by scoring four goals in nine games with Vancouver in 2016-17. He signed his first NHL contract on March 25, after playing two seasons at the University of North Dakota, then scored later that day in Vancouver's 4-2 win at the Minnesota Wild.
