Status report
Strome will be scratched after the forward had played the previous four games. "He has to change his game a little bit to play," Blackhawks coach Derek King said. "He understands that and it's a work in progress." … Murphy (concussion) and McCabe (family reasons) will play after each missed three games. … Caleb Jones probably will take part in warmups, King said. The defenseman has a non-COVID-19 illness and did not play in a 6-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday. … Gabriel was acquired in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday for defenseman Chad Krys. The forward is expected to join the Blackhawks in Toronto on Saturday. … Ylonen will make his season debut after being recalled from Laval of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.
