Anderson signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets on Nov. 5, 2013 and made his debut against the New York Rangers on Jan. 16, 2014. He scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 9, 2016, against the Carolina Hurricanes.

A power forward, Anderson set NHL career highs in goals (27), assists (20) and points (47) in 2018-19 and helped the Blue Jackets win a Stanley Cup Playoff series for the first time, a four-game sweep against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference First Round. Anderson scored three points (one goal, two assists) in 10 playoff games.
On the international stage, Anderson represented Canada at the 2014 World Junior Championship, where he scored one goal in seven games.
