Stormy at Childrens Hospital 1

Amid his Stanley Cup championship tour, Stormy is bringing some smiles to Maynard Children's Hospital.

The Carolina Hurricanes mascot delivered 1,000 special Hurricanes-themed hospital gowns to the children who are receiving care at the North Carolina hospital on August 12, in collaboration with the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation and Kids Who Give.

The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation donated $10,000 to the local hospital as well.

"It's really neat because these kids don't have a lot of control when they're in the hospital, so this is something fun that they get to choose," said Amy Daniels, executive director of the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation, to the team. "They can choose a Canes gown and do something that just brings them a smile... It's just a small something. The Carolina Hurricanes are always wanting to invest in our community, and it's a great way to connect."

Stormy went room-to-room, hand delivering the gowns to the pediatric patients.

"He walks into a kid's room, and the child just lights up," Daniels told the team. "We saw laughter, we saw giggling, we got to watch a child run around their room and just totally interact. … Especially when you're in the hospital, you really just don't have anything you get to do that's fun, so getting to see Stormy come in and bring a smile was really special."

Now that the stylish gowns are delivered, the summer of Stanley Cup celebrations goes on… with a few new fans to boot.
