THE QUICK HITS:
Last Time Out:
For a third consecutive game to start the season the Canes held their opponent to just one goal Monday. Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov paced the unit with three points each and Frederik Andersen stopped 31 out of 32 to push the team to 3-0.

Stay Hot, Marty:Martin Necas provided an assist on one of Svechnikov's second period tallies Monday, giving him a third consecutive game with a point to open the campaign. Now with two goals and three assists, a point tonight would give him a four-game point streak, matching his season-long from all of last year.
Power Play Shuffle Leads To Success:After going 0/5 through the first two games of the season on the power play, the Canes coaching staff elected to move some pieces around prior to Monday's victory in Seattle.
The old units consisted of:
PP1:Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis, Stefan Noesen and Teuvo Teravainen with Brent Burns
PP2:Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Martin Necas, Paul Stastny and Andrei Svechnikov with Brett Pesce
Wednesday's groups, which found the back of the net twice, were (* denotes change):
PP1:Sebastian Aho, Martin Necas\, Stefan Noesen and Andrei Svechnikov* with Brent Burns
PP2:Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Seth Jarvis\, Paul Stastny and Teuvo Teravainen* with Dylan Coghlan*
The changes paid immediate dividends, leading to two special teams goals on five tries.

First One For Burnzie:On one of the two aforementioned power play goals, defenseman Brent Burns earned his first point as a member of the Canes. The 37-year-old also leads the team with his 12 shots on goal and 22:57 average played per night thus far in the early-season.
Keeping It On Lock:As mentioned above, the Canes have allowed just three goals through three games this season - tied with the Dallas Stars for fewest in the league. A key component to the team limiting the opposition's office to an average of just 24.7 shots per night, third-fewest in the NHL. Then, as a last line of defense, Frederik Andersen (2-0) and Antti Raanta (1-0) have been strong when called upon, allowing just one even strength goal each.
Injury Report: Forward Ondrej Kase remains out after returning to Raleigh last Friday to be evaluated for a possible concussion.
On The Other Side:The Oilers put 48 shots on Buffalo Sabres netminder Eric Comrie on Tuesday night, but were only able to get two by him on their way to a 4-2 defeat. It was the second loss in as many games for Edmonton, who fell to Calgary over the weekend. New number one netminder Jack Campbell has allowed seven goals against in his first two starts with the club. To no surprise, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl pace the club with six points in three cames to start the year.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
What Are We Wearing?:The Canes will be wearing their white uniforms tonight.
Upcoming Milestones:Jaccob Slavin's next assist, the 174th of his career, will pass Justin Faulk for the most in team history, since relocation. Only Dave Babych (196) and Glen Wesley (176) have more in franchise history.
AFTER TODAY:
The Canes are scheduled to travel to Calgary post-game. They are slated to practice Friday before taking on the Flames Saturday night at 10 p.m. EST
