Calgary Flames --They have the second most goals per game (3.68) behind the Tampa Bay Lightning (4.04) and run much deeper than their four elite fantasy forwards. Elite left wing Johnny Gaudreau and center Sean Monahan continue to climb within the top 10 and 20 rankings, respectively, and wings Matthew Tkachuk and Elias Lindholm have entered the top 30 this week for the first time all season. The past week has also seen streaming options emerge in center Mikael Backlund, right wing Michael Frolik and defensemen Noah Hanifin and TJ Brodie .
Carolina Hurricanes' top line --The highest ranked forward among the top 100 additions is Ferland, who rejoins the list after being reunited with valuable forwards Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen on the first line. Ferland has eight points (two goals, six assists), three on the power play, and is plus-6 over his past seven games, passing rookie teammate Andrei Svechnikov among the forward rankings and lifting Aho back into the top 35. Ferland is a must-own player in standard leagues because of his hits coverage (111 in 38 games). The Hurricanes have also gotten contributions from veteran wing Justin Williams, who has goals in five straight and six of his past seven games.
Ottawa Senators --They quietly have a top 10 offense (3.11 goals per game, 10th) and top 15 power play (21.3 percent; 12th) despite trading elite defenseman Erik Karlsson and dealing with injuries to some of their top skaters. But with the possible return of top center Matt Duchene (personal) and defenseman Thomas Chabot (upper body) on Wednesday, the Senators could be a sneaky team in the second half despite being out of Stanley Cup Playoff contention. Duchene's linemates Ryan Dzingel (33 points in 44 games) and Bobby Ryan (seven-game point streak) are available in most leagues, have been productive in Duchene's absence and should benefit from his eventual return.
TRENDING DOWN
Vegas Golden Knights' first line -- Right wing Alex Tuch (56 percent owned in Yahoo) is on a nine-game point streak and suddenly Vegas' highest ranked forward, passing last season's breakout players Jonathan Marchessault and William Karlsson. Tuch has already tied his rookie point total (37 in 78 games last season) in 40 games, while Marchessault (31 points in 48 games) and Karlsson (30 in 48) have been big fantasy disappointments despite line stability. Right wing Reilly Smith's recent undisclosed injury hasn't helped matters, and Marchessault's coverage of shots on goal (173) and hits (57) are keeping his fantasy value afloat. The bulk of the Golden Knights offense lately has come from Stastny, wings Max Pacioretty (five points in five games since returning from injury) and Brandon Pirri (12 points in 10 games).
Florida Panthers -- Center Aleksander Barkov has dropped out of the top 50 forwards this week, and his rotating group of linemates is also struggling. Left wing Jonathan Huberdeau, who has been on Barkov's line over the past two months, has two goals in his past five games but is minus-10 in the span. Mike Hoffman has had a bounce-back season, but more than half of his points (40) have come on the power play (21). These forwards have been detrimental to fantasy rosters in plus/minus (Huberdeau: minus-22; Barkov: minus-18; Hoffman: minus-15; Evgenii Dadonov: minus-9) as a result of Florida having the second worst team save percentage (.884), ahead of only the Philadelphia Flyers (.882). UPDATE: Center Vincent Trocheck rejoins the forward rankings ahead of his upcoming return.
