THE QUICK HITS:
Last Time Out:
Despite giving up a goal on the first shot of the night just 28 seconds in, the Canes turned the game around to walk away with their fourth win in a row. Sebastian Aho guided the efforts, registering his fifth career hat trick on the way to a four-point night. Martin Necas followed behind with three points of his own and Antti Raanta improved to 3-0-1 as the team closed out a 5-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

BUF@CAR: Aho scores 3 in 5-3 win over the Sabres

Top Tier Talent:Necas' three-point performance on Friday extended his already career-long point streak to six games. Since October 24 in Vancouver, #88 has posted four goals and six assists for a total of ten points. He's tallied points in 10 out of 11 games this season for the Canes and his 17 points on the season trail only Eric Staal (23 in 2005-06) for the most through the first 11 games of a campaign in team history.
Surging Svech: Despite not scoring in either of the team's two most recent games, Andrei Svechnikov remains tied for fifth in the NHL with his eight goals. Only Connor McDavid (11), Bo Horvat (10), Erik Karlsson (10) and Victor Olofsson (9) have more at the moment.
Among The Elite:Sebastian Aho's four-point Friday gave him his third game of the season with at least three points. Only six other players had done that before him this season:
300 For Rod:Today will be the 300th game as Hurricanes head coach for Rod Brind'Amour. He is the fifth head coach in team history to reach the accomplishment and of the five he has 25 more wins than any of the other four. Through 299 games his record is 182-88-29.
The Big Three:Necas, Svechnikov and Aho have combined to produce 45 points for the Hurricanes through the first 11 games of the season. With 22 goals and 23 assists, the trio has also produced a total of 11 multi-point games for the team.
Volume Shots:Thursday night Carolina had 55 shots on goal in their win over Tampa, the second most by any team in the NHL this season. That now moves them to third amongst all clubs in the league in terms of average per game, trailing only Florida (39.9) and New Jersey (39.5) with their 37.6.
Keep Them To The Outside:On the other end of the spectrum, Carolina has allowed an average of just 26.1 shots through 11 games this season. Only the Devils (23.2) are allowing fewer.
Injury Report: Forward Ondrej Kase has been in concussion protocol since October 13.
On The Other Side:Toronto's top dogs have come to play to start the season, as John Tavares, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander are all averaging a point-per-game or better to start the year. The four have combined to produce 20 of the team's 34 goals thus far this season. A challenge they've been faced with is health in net. Opening Night goaltenders Matt Murray (lower-body) and Ilya Samsonov (lower-body) are now both injured, leaving them to last year's rookie sensation Erik Kallgren.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
What Are We Wearing?:The Canes are slated to wear their 2022 Reverse Retro uniforms tonight. It is the first of two times this season they will be wearing them. The other will be Sunday, December 18 vs. Pittsburgh.
AFTER TODAY:
The team is scheduled to practice Monday and Tuesday before another back-to-back set awaits them on Wednesday and Thursday. They'll travel to Sunrise following Tuesday's practice ahead of a meeting against the Panthers before turning it right back around to take on the Oilers Thursday.
