Canes Recall Bean from Charlotte

Defenseman posted 44 points in 70 AHL games this season

RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Jake Bean from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis.

Bean, 20, was named to the 2018-19 AHL All-Rookie team after registering 44 points (13g, 31a) in 70 games with the Checkers during the regular season. The 6'1", 181-pound defenseman has skated in a pair of AHL playoff games with Charlotte in 2019, tallying two assists. Bean made his NHL debut with Carolina on Nov. 27 at Montreal and played two games for the Hurricanes this season. The Calgary, Alta., native was drafted by Carolina in the first round, 13th overall, of the 2016 NHL Draft.
